7. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients when reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
Shopify
Shopify hosts and supports the online store, checkout, commerce infrastructure, security, fraud prevention, analytics, and related services.
Payment Providers
Payment information is disclosed to payment processors, card networks, banks, fraud-prevention providers, and other parties needed to authorize or complete a payment, refund, or dispute.
Suppliers and Fulfillment Partners
We disclose order and delivery information to suppliers, dropshipping platforms, and fulfillment partners when needed to prepare, fulfill, ship, replace, or return products.
This may include platforms such as DropCommerce when used by Pettels, as well as the supplier responsible for the ordered product.
Shipping Carriers
We disclose recipient, address, telephone, email, package, and order information to postal and shipping carriers as needed to deliver and track products.
Technology and Business Service Providers
We may use providers for website operation, analytics, communications, customer support, security, fraud prevention, data storage, marketing, and advertising.
Professional Advisers
We may disclose information to accountants, attorneys, insurers, auditors, and other professional advisers subject to appropriate obligations.
Legal and Safety Purposes
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with law, regulation, court order, or lawful government request;

Business Transactions
Personal information may be disclosed as part of a proposed or completed merger, financing, restructuring, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or transfer of all or part of the business, subject to applicable law.
8. Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising
Pettels does not sell personal information to third parties in exchange for money.
However, certain analytics, advertising, personalization, or Shopify services may involve disclosing identifiers, device information, or website activity in a manner that some United States state privacy laws define as a “sale,” “sharing,” or processing for targeted advertising, even when no money is exchanged.
Where applicable law provides the right, customers may opt out through a “Your Privacy Choices,” “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information,” or similar control made available in the website footer or privacy settings.
Customers may also email support@pettels.co with the subject line “Privacy Opt-Out Request.”
Where required by applicable law and supported by our privacy tools, we will process recognized opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control.
9. Marketing Communications
We send promotional emails only when permitted by law, such as when a customer has requested or consented to receive them.
Marketing emails include an unsubscribe method. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop necessary transactional messages concerning orders, payments, shipping, returns, refunds, recalls, or customer support.
Pettels does not currently use SMS marketing consent during Shopify checkout. If SMS marketing is introduced later, this policy and the applicable consent disclosures must be updated before that feature is used.
10. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including:
- Completing and documenting transactions;
- Providing customer support;
- Handling returns, warranties, disputes, and chargebacks;
- Meeting tax, accounting, and legal obligations;
- Preventing fraud and protecting security;
- Enforcing agreements; and
- Establishing or defending legal claims.
Retention periods vary depending on the type of information, the transaction, legal requirements, and whether an active dispute or investigation exists.
Information may be deleted, anonymized, or aggregated when it is no longer reasonably required, subject to backup and legal-retention requirements.
11. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
These measures may include access restrictions, platform security, secure payment processing, fraud-prevention systems, and service-provider controls.
No transmission, website, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Customers should avoid sending complete payment-card details or other unnecessary sensitive information through email or the contact form.
12. United States State Privacy Rights
Depending on the state where you live and whether the applicable law applies to Pettels, you may have rights concerning your personal information.
These rights may include the right to:

These rights are subject to legal exceptions. For example, we may retain information needed to complete a transaction, maintain security, detect fraud, comply with law, resolve disputes, or exercise legal rights.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of individuals under 16.
We do not offer a financial incentive in exchange for personal information unless a separate notice describing the material terms is provided.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If we learn that personal information was submitted by a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
A parent or guardian who believes that a child submitted personal information may contact us at support@pettels.co.
18. International Processing
Although Pettels currently sells to customers in the United States, Shopify and other service providers may process personal information in the United States, Canada, or other countries where they operate.
Privacy and data-protection laws in those countries may differ from the laws where you live. Where legally required, appropriate safeguards are used for international processing and transfers.
19. Third-Party Websites
The website may contain links to websites or services that we do not operate. Their information practices are governed by their own privacy policies.
We encourage customers to review a third party’s privacy policy before providing personal information to that party.
20. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our business, technology, service providers, legal obligations, or information practices.
The updated version becomes effective when posted with a revised “Last updated” date unless another effective date is stated.
